I purchased these mascaras - this post contains affiliate links
There must be some part of me that doesn't believe a $5 mascara can be as good as everyone says it is. Recently I ran out of mascaras, so I finally decided to dive in and give this a chance!
I picked up both the False Lash Effect mascaras in the regular formula and the waterproof formula so I could see how I like both of them! (I actually haven't found a waterproof formula that I really like, so if I can find one for $5, I will happily try it out now!)
Essence has 5 different mascaras in the Lash Princess line: False Lash Effect Waterproof, False Lash Effect, Volume, Sculpted Volume, Curl & Volume. I personally love a full, thick, volumized look so I thought the False Effect would be perfect to try.
Both the brushes in the waterproof and regular formula are the same - they are nice full bristle brushes and I like the shape of them! (I personally could go even thicker, hourglass shaped, but these will cover all the lashes well!)
Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara ~ $4.99 CAN. Royal sister! The original Lash Princess has a big and bold sister with voluminous false lash effects! The conic shape fiber brush provides lashes with dramatic volume and sculpted length.
Spoiler alert if you saw my August Favourites - this is a fantastic mascara! Honestly, I can't believe I waited so long to try this and I love this formula so much! It made my lashes full, thick and dark. It can also be built up well - I'm typically a 3 coat mascara person and this worked so well for that. It can get a teeny tiny clumpy and I can easily comb it out and love the effect on my lashes. This will easily become my go-to affordable mascara!
Here is a look at the Essence Mascara False Lash Effect mascara on me - I absolutely love the look of this mascara on the lashes. This is probably one of the best formulas that I've tried in a long time. I wear this with 2 - 3 coats on and it's lovely!
This masks my lashes full, thick dark, and adds a good amount of length to the lashes. This is a great formula - not too wet, not to dry. It does clump a touch, but easily combs out. I do think this mascara can be a little hard to wash off - it does need a makeup remover or cleansing balm prior to washing off with cleanser.
Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara ~ $4.99 CAN. Royal sister is Now Waterproof! Lash Princess False Lash Waterproof gives you voluminous false lash effects of the original in a new waterproof formula! The conic shape fiber brush provides lashes with dramatic volume and sculpted length.
As I've said, I haven't set many waterproof formulas that I love, so I didn't think $5 was a huge splurge in case I didn't like it. I have to say, I also really liked this formula! I find most waterproof mascara really clumpy and drying - this was quite a wet formula, but not in a clumpy or a bad way! It actually made my lashes look long and lovely (maybe not the thickest formula, but they look really nice).
Here is a look at the Essence Mascara False Lash Effect Waterproof mascara on me - I'm really happy with how this formula looks on my lashes. This is easily the best waterproof mascara formula I've tried - I put this on a few times and said there is no way that I'm now spending any more than $5 on a waterproof formula, because it's so lovely on the lashes!
This really adds length and depth to my lashes - they do look thicker and I like that this wasn't a clumpy formula. This mascara is a true, hard to wash off formula - it takes an eye makeup remover, and a double cleanse to gently remove this formula.
Overall, I'm really happy with both of these mascaras - I can't believe I've waited so long to try these out! Curious to hear if you've tried these formulas and what your thoughts are!
