Kaleidos was on my list of brands to try for 2020 and I was really pleased that I did try them - I piked up a small, neutral eyeshadow palette and really enjoyed the formula of it! I also picked up a lovely highlighter that I have been using lots - it's certainly a brand that I'm excited to see and try more from!
So, when they announced that they were collaborating with Swedish youtuber, Angelica Nyqvist, I was pretty happy - she's certainly the reason that I heard about the brand! Also, Kaleidos is a brand that doesn't shy away from colourful, and if you've seen Angie's channel then you know that she is very much in to colourful looks, so this feels like a very fitting collab all around!
I knew this palette was going to be colourful when it was announced and I'm excited to get something colourful and fun to add to my collection! While I don't wear colourful looks day to day, I do really like to play with colours when I have the chance, so I know that I will get some good use out this palette and I'm excited for the colour story as it's different from a lot of palettes in my collection!
Kaleidos The Club Nebula Palette ~ $45.00 US. This opulent mix of gala-ready cool and warm-toned color combinations was created in a collaboration with beauty guru Angelica Nyqvist. Featuring an elegant selection of suave, dark mattes and vibrant, dazzling duochromes, this palette balances deep, rich hues with flurries of shimmering pastel and neon.
This palette is currently out of stock, but I wanted to get my thoughts and looks up, because if you are interested in it, it is being restocked tomorrow (Feb 17!) - it doesn't sound like they have a ton of stock left, so if you've been on the fence, tomorrow is decision day!
This is a great combination of deep mattes, beautiful shimmers and some brighter pops of colour in there! There is a little bit of green, blue, purple, red and corals. Also, in true Angie and Kaleidos style there is some duochromes as well! Again, this palette is a little out of my comfort zone, but I know I like the Kaleidos eye shadow formula, so it was easier to buy a colourful palette from them knowing that. It is a palette that would pair well with other palettes in my collection - easily deepen up or add a pop of colour to any look!
Firefly ~ A fresh mint green sparkling duochrome with a frosty fuchsia shift.
7 of 9 ~ A satiny and buoyant Caribbean blue matte.
Gravity ~ A sumptuous sour apple and chartreuse green matte.
Queen of Blades ~ A regal, mysterious dark teal green matte.
Void ~ An infinitely deep navy-blue matte.
You’re My Only Hope ~ A luminous lavender sparkling duochrome adorned with white crystal shimmers and a pale blue shift.
Naaru ~ A taupe matte with a hint of plum.
Astro ~ A brilliant royal blue multichrome with a glimmer of warm violet and teal.
Rockhopper ~ A suave deep grey indigo matte.
Cylon ~ A debonair dark plum matte.
Celestial ~ A radiant hot pink multichrome with decadent fuchsia and golden shifts.
Nova ~ A glistening amethyst blue sparkling duochrome topper with a warm violet shift.
Samus ~ A creamy peach orange matte.
Nebula ~ A rose-gold red sparkling duochrome with a molten copper shift.
Red Giant ~ A stately, deep brick red matte.
I think this palette has a solid amount of medium to deep matte shadows and lots of light and medium shimmer shades. I like that the names are all geeky or spacey themed - not a lot of eyeshadow comes with an ode to geeky themes, so I like that! The formulas are pretty good - the shimmers and duochromes are all lovely, some are lighter toppers and some are very pigmented. They apply well, especially with fingers or a wet brush. The mattes were a good formula too - the lighter ones blended well, but I did find that the deeper ones needed to be patted on and they lifted when I tried to layer them.
I also noticed a little bit of lifting overall in my crease, with both the mattes and shimmers - you can see it in the looks and I did have an eye primer on. Not a huge downfall, but just something to note. In reality, I'm not closing my eyes all the time, so it isn't super noticeable. The shadows still looked nice on, wore well and stayed pigmented.
I was excited about the purples in this palette - it isn't packed with purples, but there is certainly enough to do a full look with and I love this look! It's super pretty and I love that this palette can still be used for lighter looks!
For this look, I used Naaru as the transition shade in my crease - I deepened the crease with Rockhopper and then applied Cylon to the outer corner. For the lid I applied You're My Only Hope to the lid and Nova to the inner corner. Then I applied a little bit of Naaru to the lower lash line.
I loved how this look came together - the purples were easy to work with (Ceylon just needed to be patted on the outer corner as opposed to blended, but still very easy) - I love You're My Only Hope, it's a gorgeous lid (or inner corner) shade and I really like this look!
For the second look, I really wanted to play with the oranges and blues together - I've seen lots of all red/coral looks and all blue looks, but the colours are so complimentary, that I thought I would just dive in and go out of my comfort zone!
For this look, I used Samus in the crease and applied Void to the outer corner and lightly blended it to deepen the crease. I applied Astro all over the lid and Nebula to the inner corner. I finished the look with Samus to the lower lash line.
I thought this look was really pretty - I love that this palette has so many different colour pairings and it just feels very inspiring to play with all the shades!
I certainly didn't get looks created with all the shades - I still have to play with the greens and red, but I wanted to share my swatches, looks and initial thoughts prior to the restock coming up tomorrow!
Overall, this is a pretty palette - if you are a fan of Kaleidos or a fan of Angie that has been wanting to try the brand, it's certainly something you wouldn't be disappointed in. But, you can't be afraid of colour, or you won't get much use out of this!
What do you think of this palette?
