Happy Mask Wednesday! I think it's been a little while since I've done a mask post, but I'm really excited for today's mask - it's from a local, Calgary company and I'm always so excited when I find great products locally!
I purchased this mask on my own
I've talked about The Potion Masters a little bit last year in a Magical Bath Post - they make the most beautiful bath spells! They also make a variety of skincare products too (they are on my list to try). But, when they announced a line of face masks released in July, I couldn't resist trying one right away!
The Potion Masters are a Calgary Mom and Daughter duo and they focus on making potent formulas for skin, while focusing on giving you the freshest products and reducing their impact on the environment - all of their packaging is reusable, compostable or recyclable. They also donate $1 from every potion sold to good causes, local events and charities committed to mental heath, equality and humanitarian aid.
The Potion Masters Alchemy Mask - Nourishment ~ $35.00 CAN. If your skin is feeling tired, dull, stressed, or thirsty, it needs some Nourishment. This mask is plant food for your skin. Vitamin rich exotic leaves, adaptogenic mushrooms, hydrating honey and renewing extracts balanced with clarifying french green clay and soothing crushed lavender. This mask is gently exfoliating and superbly softening. Each jar provides 10-20 applications. All natural. Preservative-free.
These masks come in powder form so they are activated when you mix them with water to apply - this helps them stay fresh and last longer! The Nourishment mask is basically plant food for your skin with ingredients like honey, chaga mushroom extract, moringa leaf, and banaba leaf with two different types of clay! The website actually lists every ingredient and the use/benefits of each ingredient!
To use this mask: Mix 1-2 tsps of mask powder with 1-2 teaspoons of water - the texture should resemble yogurt and allow the mask to sit for a few minutes for the ingredients to activate. Then, apply to face and wear for 5 to 15 minutes. Rinse well with water or cloth and massage face as you rinse.
I have to say, this definitely feels like face food, because it smells like a green smoothie (not in a bad way - I kind of like it!) In my uses, I've found you need a lot less water to mask ratio to make it a thicker formula In my try on, I did exactly 2 tsps of each and it was thinner than I anticipated, so when I tried it again I used closer to 1 tsp of water and found it to be a thicker consistency. I was a little worried how nourishing a clay based mask would be on my skin, but I thought this worked well. I wear it for around 10 minutes and remove just after it dries down. My skin felt a little dry immediately after removing the mask, but it doesn't last long and my skin did feel more refreshed, soft and smooth!
What's fun about these masks, is that The Potions Masters really wanted to create a line of masks that you could mix and blend with other masks in the line, or other ingredients for a customized mask for your specific needs. I love that they've included a list of suggestions as I do like making fresh masks at home (even though I don't do it as often as I should!)
Great post - that bottle is so amazing! :) Makes the product even more appealing!
