Okay, okay - don't take this as a cop out post! I did just share my quick thoughts on this palette in my November Boxycharm post; but, if I'm being honest I know there are some people who aren't interested in subscription box reviews, so I thought I would share a closer look at this palette!
Winky Lux Kitten Palette ~ $25.00 US. Inspired by the velvety feel of our feline friends, these ultra soft shadows glide on like a dream. The universally flattering collection of shades makes this palette as lovable as a kitten.
Winky Lux is a new brand to me - I have only had it pop up in a couple of Boxycharm boxes. Winky Lux is a newer brand (about 2 years) that is dedicated to creating non-toxic, cruelty free, paraben free, and phtalate free makeup that is richly pigmented at a reasonable price point.
The Kitten Palette is a newer palette - just released in October. The packaging of this palette is actually to-die-for and it really speaks to the crazy cat lady in me - and, going through the rest of their products, the packaging is really cute (they are perfect for instagram which makes sense for a newer brand that wants the exposure on social media!)
The palette itself comes with a mixture of 9 high pigmented shadows in 4 different finishes - matte, satin, holographic, and glitter shadows.
Purr ~ satin cool toned light pink
Duchess ~ matte light beige
Strut ~ matte warm tan
Holographic ~ pink holographic duo chrome
9 Lives ~ glitter smoky blue
Cateye ~ glitter bronze
Romeo ~ satin dark reddish brown
Chesire ~ matte plum
Boots ~ matte dark brown
I do always wish that palettes like this have a mirror on the inside or the shade names or something - I feel like that whole top is a bit of wasted space. Now, on to the shadows - overall, they are pretty good shadows. There are a few inconsistencies between the shadows themselves - I found 9 Lives and Chesire did not swatch as well as the other shadows. And, Purr, Holographic and Cateye were so, so, so pigmented compared to the rest!
I found the satins - Romeo and Purr were super soft and smooth and swatched and applied to the eye nicely. The mattes were a little drier than the satins, but they did still apply nicely - especially Duchess and Strut! While, they aren't the most impactful in an initial swatch, I generally use mattes in the crease and I love that these can be built up to a color that I like! I found 9 Lives didn't swatch well, and it didn't apply great to my eyes either - this may be my least favorite shadow overall. But, to make up for that Cateye and Holographic are so beautiful swatched and applied - I could use these all day every day!
I created a pretty typical shadow look with this - Duchess as a base shadow and under the brow, Strut in the crease, Boots used to deepen the outer corner and crease, Cateye all over the lid, Holographic in the inner corner, and 9 Lives on the lower lash line.
I also used the Holographic shadow as a highlighter in this look and a Winky Lux brow product!
To complete this makeup look I used:
-Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Foundation in 2C3 Fresco
-Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Medium Light Neutral
-NYX Banana Powder
-Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Colour in RD103 for blush
-Winky Lux Kitten Palette Holographic shadow as a highlighter
-Laqa & Co. Cloud Lips in Sunshower
-Winky Lux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil
Overall, I'm really happy with this palette! It does come with a good mix of typical shades and some really unique shadows! I would recommend this if you think you need an adorable kitten palette in your collection, or if you have a cat lover in your life Winky Lux has really decent shipping to Canada - starting at $5 which is great!

I love how you look wearing Sunshower. It's a beautiful color on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marcey - I haven't reached for it much; but, now that it's warm out, it's such a pretty lipstick!
