August 2014 Julep Maven Nail Polish Box - Review and Unboxing

Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription box. For $24.99 US per month Julep will send you 2 nail polishes and 1 other item (beauty product/nail product). If you sign up for 3 months you will get the boxes for $19.99 per month. 

Julep matches you up with a style box each month based on a quiz you take - you can choose to buy the box Julep selects for you or you can choose another box that you prefer!

This month I was matched up with the "Bombshell" Box - I ended up customizing the box and switching one of the colors around. Here is a look at my August customized Julep Maven Box:

This month's "Wanderlust" nail polish collection was beautiful - unfortunately for Julep they did not plan well and ended up running out of some colors. Some people were receiving 3 of 1 color and getting random replacements instead of what they ordered! Yikes - I was a little but mine turned up just as ordered it!!
Here is a closer look at the contents:

Neha ~ $14. Sari magenta shimmer. This color was set in my bombshell box and is beautiful!!! So nice and bright - I can't wait to use this!! 

Katie ~ $14. Orchid iridescent chrome. This was in the "Classic with a Twist" box but I exchanged the other "Bombshell" color for this one! I know I need another pink nail polish like a hole in my head, but this color was so pretty, I had to have it!! The color is awesome!

Gel Eye Glider in "Smoky Plum" ~ $16. I have been receiving black and brown eyeliners in a few of my boxes so I picked the smoky plum color for something different. It is very nice - a grayish plum - and the formula is awesome! Nice and smooth and doesn't smudge; however, I cannot locate the eyeliner on the Julep website any longer! 

The extra item in the box was a phone screen cleaner! It actually did work very well - however, they wanted you to stick it and leave it on your phone - then when you need to clean you just un-peel, wipe the screen, and re-stick. I thought that was weird especially because you can see in the photo how big it would be! I will leave it in a drawer and use it when I need it! 

So for just over $25 i received $44 worth of products - I really like the 2 nail polish colors and the eyeliner as well.

What did you think of the August Julep Maven Box? Hopefully you received the colors you ordered and didn't get caught in the mess that was Julep this month! I am cancelling my Julep subscription next month - I did like the nail polishes I recieved but I have a ton - $25 a month is just too much for me to justify on nail polishes (plus the ones I collected will last me for a while!)
