Five on Saturday - June 25, 2022 ~ Meeting Kaitlyn Bristowe, Book Lovers Review, Tâpwê And The Magic Hat Book, Father's Day at Calaway Park, and Rea's Italian Cucina

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a great week!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post on my own - this post contains affiliate links

Oooh I was so excited to hear that Kaitlyn Bristowe was coming to Calgary for a Spade & Sparrows event - I loved her on the Bachelor/Bachelorette, she is hilarious on her podcast, and the wine is delicious! So naturally, I managed to line up after work and get a few bottles of wine signed - she was so sweet and the team was great!

TWO

I'm so excited to share Book Lovers by Emily Henry because it's my first 5 star read of the year! I've read some great books, but this was just fantastic! This is the perfect Summer Rom-com if you are looking for one!

I have read all of Emily Henry's adult romance books, and this one is the best to me - I loved this! This is a "typical" enemies to lovers romance, but it's so much more than that. I love a book that can poke fun at the tropes and in that style, it's really an ode to books and book writing and there is so much love of books sprinkled in this romance I loved it.

Our main characters are "rivals" in the New York book world, but when they chance encounter each other in a small town, where Nora is with her sister completing a checklist, and they end up working on a project together... you can see where it's going to go, and despite that predicability, everything is amazing. Their banter and tension is so well done and I love a dry sense of humour so this book had me cracking up (like, loudly - it's a good thing I listen to my books alone in the car). Also, the sister dynamics were something I wasn't expecting, but loved in there and it's really about being loved for who you are and not changing yourself for anyone. Lovely - I really enjoyed this. Laughed, cried - you name it!

THREE

In other amazing book news, my sister illustrated a book with the iconic Buffy Sainte-Marie - Tapwe And The Magic Hat Book! She is such a fantastic artist and this is so cool. The book is meant for young readers and is based on oral histories and traditions! I can't wait to read it with the boys!

FOUR

The weather in Calgary has been crazy the past couple of weeks - pouring rain (last Tuesday we got around 100 mm), so it was looking a little questionable before Father's Day, but we decided to chance it and go to Calaway Park for the day and it was fantastic! It was pretty quiet and Elliott (and us) had a blast there!

FIVE

I didn't take pictures because we were at a family dinner, but fellow Calgarians, I found a great little Italian restaurant - Rea's Italian Cucina! We went out to celebrate all the family birthdays in June and stumbled upon this spot - it's super cute and the food was fantastic! Will certainly be going back again!

I hope you all have a great weekend!
