Five on Friday - August 17, 2018

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a great week - mine has been a long one! It's been a busy work week after being gone for 8 days from the house. I've said this before; but, it feels like you are playing catch up the whole week! I'm looking forward to being at home for the weekend.

ONE

Here is a look at the July 2018 Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet. I was hoping to do a full blog post on this subscription; but, I received it after July right before I left on holidays and it feels a little late now!

Notoriously Morbid is an indie brand the features cruelty free makeup that is unique and perfect for those who embrace their beautiful darkness.

Notoriously Morbid's subscription is called "The Vanishing Cabinet" and features 4-5 products each month (usually minis) based on a monthly theme that can range from eyeshadows lipstick, blush, etc. The subscription is $13.25 US for Americans and $20.00 US for International (this price includes shipping). Because this is an indie brand, they do have a long waitlist for those interested in the subscription; however, every couple of months they offer One Month trials - that's how I picked up the July 2018 subscription!

This month's theme is "Pure Imagination" and inspired by the 1971 film "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" and the products included in this months subscription are:
  • Everlasting Gobstopper ~ NM's first ever setting spray. Spritz on after applying your makeup for a stay all day, no melt away, look.
  • Candy is Dandy ~ A dark mauve shimmering blush with gold and green shimmers.
  • She's A Bad Egg ~ A dark velvet burgundy red packed with all the golden sparkles and even some more!
  • In The Heart or In The Head? ~ A metallic light taupe with a violet shift and pink to purple shifting sparkles.
  • We Are The Music Makers ~ A blue based shadow with deep purple shimmer and pink to orange to mauve shifting sparkles.
These are look really pretty - I don't often use loose shadows; but, I look forward to trying these out! If you are looking for a more indie based subscription, you might be interested in this!

TWO

Do you pick out a Summer reading list? I always have a huge reading list to get through, but like to pick some as Summer books! These are everything I would like to get through (although, I rarely have time to sit down and read an actual book) - I have managed to get through a few already! If you are an avid reader like me, find me on Goodreads and we can share book recommendations!

Do we have any of the same books on our Summer reading lists?!

THREE

Who doesn't love free stuff?! Here's a look at some freebies I got this week:

This big set was the add-on of the week last week at Superstore when you spend over $250 on groceries. Shampoos, lotions, and face wipes are always handy to have extras of and if I get too many I just pass them on!

Then, just a couple freebies in the mail this week - Dove Exfoliating body polish and VDL Lumilayer primers! I think both of these were freebies from Topbox Circle and these are always handy for travel or just to test out new goodies!

FOUR

We had such a great week last week with my husband's family at their cabin in Fairmont! We spent the week with his parents, siblings and their kids; plus, they had a big family reunion for the weekend! It was lots of fun and we went to these amazing Natural Hotsprings, hiking, and kayaking!

FIVE

Have you guys ever given stainless steel straws a try before? I heard from a couple of bloggers that they really love them and I love the alternative to using plastic straws in drinks! So, I thought the next amazon order I make, I will pick them up and try them!

Hope you all have a great weekend - I'm so looking forward to being at home for the weekend!

  1. I got the exact same straws from Amazon and they are great! they can be a little long for cans and such, but they are a great way to save your teeth and the environment!

  2. Haha I also have those straws. I had them in my cart on Amazon, but then saw them in store at Showbox. Oooh those hot springs look lovely. I've always wanted to go to hot springs in nature like that. The closest I've gotten to the rock face in springs is Ainsworth. It's pretty neat.
