Naturally, I'm slower at getting my thoughts up, and ColourPop pumps out the releases, so they actually have an all new Star Wars collection being released today! But, I still want to get my thoughts up on this palette!
Initially, it's not a colour story that I would normally reach for - I tend to not have too many greys and deeper shades in this area, but because it's Darth, I thought I would have to try it out!
ColourPop Darth Vader Shadow Palette ~ $16.00 US. Go rogue with the ultimate Sith Lord baddie! In collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm, this special edition Darth Vader Palette features empire inspired hues in a cool mix of sleek greys, gunmetals and charcoals, with pops of scarlet and merlot.
This is a pretty blend of cool tone shadows - taupe, greys, and deep charcoals and burgundy. It's a mix of 4 mattes, 1 matte with speckles, 1 supershock shadow, and 3 metallics, so it's a good mix of formulas and a pretty good range of shades.
I love the packaging and themes of this palette - the Tie Fighters, the names, everything about it is so well done! ColourPop always goes all out with these collabs, and they are great!
Stormtrooper ~ dusty soft mauve with blue and silver flecks
Imperial Forces ~ matte taupe
Battle Station ~ matte cool stone grey
Gone Galactic ~ metallic antique bronze
I Am The Master ~ metallic scarlet
Death Star ~ metallic gunmetal
The Empire ~ matte charcoal
Dark Side ~ matte black with red pinpoints
Sith Lord ~ matte merlot
The shadows all swatch well, and this is a fantastic formula, so they all preform really well too! I was impressed with how blendable the mattes are, the metallics are all super pigmented and shimmery. The only one that is different is the super shock shadow - it's a little soft and it a lighter, creamy formula!
For this look, I started with Imperial Forces in the crease, then I added Sith Lord to the edges and deepened the crease and smudged out the lower lash line. Then, I used the Dark Side in the outer corner. I cut the crease with a concealer, then applied I Am The Master to the lid and used Gone Galactic to blend the red and black together. I finished the look with Stormtrooper in the inner corner.
I absolutely love this look - the burgundy, red and black ended up being so pretty together (even though I wasn't sure that the shades would all work well!) I love this look so much and this palette definitely brought out my creative side!
I'm loving how this look came together - it feels Dark Side-ish, but pretty! I love these shades and am happy this is a little out of my comfort zone!
For the second look, I used Battle Station in the crease and the lower lash line, The Empire to deepen the outer corner, Death Star all over the lid, and Storm Trooper in the inner corner. The metallic shade is so gorgeous and I love how bold they are!
This is a pretty simple, basic look that you can create with this palette - it's a super simple smoky eye and the black or reds could be added for a pop as well too!
I'm really happy with how this looks as well - I feel like it's something that can be dressed up or down and it was quick to do because the shadow formula worked so well!
Overall, I'm loving this palette - if it wasn't a Darth Vader collab, I'm not sure it's something I would have reached for; but, on that note, I'm glad I picked it up! It is a great formula, really helped me get creative with shadow colours and I'm really happy!
I am also interested in the new ColourPop collab, but honestly, will probably wait until June to save some of my budget for my Italy trip!
