I just started documenting my favourites lat month, and already I am having trouble narrowing it down to the Top 5 for this post!! I use so many products constantly; but, it is fun to feature a few I have truly been loving!! Here is a look at my August Favourites:
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in "Luminous Light"~ $52.00. Create the perfect illumination for your face with Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Powder. Infused with the innovative Photoluminescent Technology, each finishing powder captures, diffuses, and softens the look of the skin. The micron-size, color-correcting particles refract light and create transparent coverage, filtering out harsh light and refining the appearance of the skin.
*~*~*Holiday Note*~*~* Hello my lovely readers - I'm a taking some quick holidays!! Just a heads up, there will be no posts from Saturday August 22, 2015 to Sunday August 30, 2015 - posts will resume on Monday August 31, 2015! I am getting married on the 29th and want all this time to make my big day extra special and stress free!! Keep up with me on Instagram and be ready for a ton of posts on the 31st!! ONE
Yay!!! Finally an update on the Nina Garcia box!!! The theme is Travel Essentials!! I am going to stay subscribed for this one - I had been waiting to hear the theme before deciding! I did not get the last one, so I am looking forward to this one! I really hope it gets to me in time for my honeymoon at the end of September (shipping to Canada is a little slow!)
TopBoxis a Canadian Beauty Box Subscription - for $12 CDN a month with free shipping, you will receive 4 deluxe sample size or full size products. You fill out a beauty profile and generally receive products based on what you have identified in the profile. Also, every month you have the option to wish for a "prive" box, which is a box that focuses on one brand or product for the whole box. TopBox is a Canadian company and only ships to Canada. The only downside to subscribing to TopBox is that there is a wait-list that can take a month or two to get off of.
For August, I opted for the regular Topbox. Here's a look:
It always comes in this purple mailer! Here is a look at the products inside:
Recently, I have been complaining about the lack of Korean Beauty Subscriptions available in Canada (I will note that my fiance and wallet are not complaining about this though...). Up until now, we only have Beauteque BB Bag - don't get me wrong I liked the subscription, but I also like to have options!
Mishibox is a newer Korean Beauty Box subscription based out of the U.S. - their first box shipped in June. I was so excited when they announced that they would be shipping to Canada for August! I obviously signed up right away!
"Our mission at MISHIBOX (pronounced "me-she") is to help you explore the exciting (and sometimes very cute) world of Korean beauty. We want to help you discover your favorite products in a convenient, effortless, and affordable way. We will send you a curated box with a combination of 4 - 6 deluxe-sized samples and full-sized Korean beauty products from a wide range of Korean brands. We are all about finding the best Korean beauty products for you to try from both brands that you already love and the brands that we think you will love."
Mishibox is $19.99 monthly + $8.95 shipping to Canada. Mishibox has noted that they are currently trying to secure a lower shipping rate to Canada!
I have been going through major Korean beauty box withdrawls the last few months! I liked Beauteque BB Bag but needed something a little bit more - in comes in Peach and Lily with the Seoulcialite 2.0 Box!! Just what I needed!! Peach and Lily is a korean beauty product website and once in a while they release a special edition beauty box. This is not a subscription box, but a 1 time purchase - when these boxes are released, they sell out very fast!!! Peach and Lily Seoulcialite 2.0 was $49 + $25 shipping to Canada (I know this is more than what I would normally pay for shipping, but this box promised a value of over $150 and the 1.0 Box was so highly reviewed!) I could not pass up this box! Here is a look at the Seoulcialite 2.0 Box:
Comes in a really nice box - here is a look inside:
This box was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion One my favorite parts of blogging is that I get to help support new businesses - especially new Canadian subscription companies! I always get so excited when I hear of a new Canadian box. the subscription box businesses is very competitive and I love helping to put these companies out there!! Bakers Krate is a new Canadian subscription - and it fills a void in the food subscriptions! Here is how Bakers Krate is described:

"For only $10 a month, each kit includes one set of wraps (already a $12 value), and extras like polish, charms and nail art tools (a total value of over $20). Signing up is a no brainer when you're saving this much."
Of the 3 monthly nail wraps featured in the Monthly Box, you pick which style you would like for your Kit! Here is a look at the August Monthly Mani Kit:
It comes every month in this bright gold mailer! Here is a look at the goodies inside:
The price for each pouch includes worldwide shipping!
When you sign up for Mask Genie, you must purchase each month individually (although, Genie does say if you contact her you may request automatic re-billing) Mask Genie describes their service as:
"MaskGenie is a monthly masks membership service, which delivers a beautifully packaged drawstring pouch straight to your door containing a variety of fun and exciting masks from Asia.
Unlike other masks subscription services, MaskGenie gives you the freedom to choose what you buy and when you buy, so you never feel tied to anything. Throughout the year, there will also be Limited Edition Luxury Mask Pouches that you can purchase as an extra treat for yourself or for a friend.
MaskGenie is not only your usual masks subscription service where you receive a bunch of random masks each month, but with MaskGenie, all products are carefully chosen and curated by us, all in order to give you the best selection of the craziest, coolest, and hottest trends!
No matter what skincare concerns you may have, MaskGenie provides only the best masks that care for your skin from head to toe. You now have an opportunity to try out all the different types and brands of masks from Asia."
For July I ordered to 10 Mask Pouch! (Mask Genie let everyone know that the July pouch was shipping a bit later than usual due to waiting for masks to arrive) Here is a look:
Always comes in an organza pouch! Mask Genie does not include a product card, but she does do an un-pouching video on her youtube channel every month and explains each mask. Here is a look at the masks in the pouch:
I have never shopped at ColorPop before and this company is so highly reviewed! There was so much hype about the new "Ultra Matte" lip colours, that I totally jumped on the bandwagon! Also, right after they released the Ultra Mattes, they also released some "Sheer" lippie stix and I was excited for those too! Looking back though, I wish I had tried a few eyeshadows too! (Oh no, I guess I will have to put in another order soon!) Here is a look at what I ordered:
Canada is really lacking in the K-Beauty subscriptions right now; Beauteque came along just at the right time (as Memebox said good-bye to us Canadians). Beauteque is an American company but they offer shipping to Canada at a reasonable rate! Beauteque does offer 2 monthly subscription services - BB Bag and Mask Maven (you can view my past reviews in those links). In addition to 2 subscriptions, and a shop with plenty of k-beauty goodies, the also curate monthly(ish) "Head to Toe" bags with different themes! I have never tried a Head to Toe bag, but I have been antsy for some new K-beauty goodies, so I opted to get the "Fun in the Sun" bag! Each Head to Toe bag is priced a little differently - this bag was $28 + $6.95 shipping to Canada. It's Head to Toe Fun in the Sun, featuring six full-sized summer essentials! Here is a look at what I received (it actually couldn't all fit in this bag):
Like the subscriptions, Beauteque includes a product card with the Head to Toe bag:
I recently did a drugstore shopping haul and bought the well reviewed new mascara: Covergirl The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara Review.
Covergirl The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara ~ $8.99 ~ The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara gives you 400% more corner-to-corner volume for full, fanned out lashes. Our amazing Lash Styler transforms even small lashes— just twirl as you apply it to your lashes for an instantly Super Sized lash look. Opthalmologically tested, suitable for those who wear contact lenses.
Time for another shopping haul!!! This time I took a little trip to The Real Canadian Superstore and London Drugs! I didn't have anything in mind to buy, I just went and browsed. Here are my Superstore finds:
Joe Fresh Mask Age-Defying ~ $2.00 or 3 for $5.00. Peel-off mask provides deep-pore cleansing to leave skin feeling tighter and looking younger.
Sorry that I have been consistently inconsistent lately with my posts!! Yikes - I did my nails yesterday! Last week I used some nail stickers which were adorable (see here), but they did peel my nails a little bit as they came off. I really need my nails to be in tip-top shape for the wedding in 2 weeks so I am giving the nails a little break! Here is a look at what I used this week (this is actually a photo from last year when I used this treatment - sorry I was lazy this week and didn't take pictures):
Julep Oxygen Nail Treatment ~ $18. Complete nail care and make-up all in one bottle. Made with a patented Hexanal formulation, nails are restructured to a stronger, thicker, and smoother condition in just one stroke. Advanced plant stem cell complex provides anti-aging benefits, while ground-breaking oxygen technology forms a nonocclusive film on the nail, proving resistant to water penetration and improving the permeability to oxygen. Results are nails that are structurally stronger, and less prone to breakage and splitting.
*Here is the irony of this post - I wrote this for Skincare Sunday knowing that I was attending a wedding on Saturday night; turns out I was too hungover yesterday and forgot to post! Whoops - don't worry I followed my skincare tips so at least I looked good!
While we all know here that I love my Wine + Mask Wednesday, but other than that I try not to consume too much alcohol as it can wreck havoc on your skin!
When you do have a little bit too much to drink, your skin needs some extra love and care!!
Here are my Top 5 Hangover Skincare Tips:
1. Wash Your Makeup Off Before Going To Bed!!
This is one of my skincare tips ever!! But seriously, this is a must! Even if you are exhausted - leaving your makeup can clog your pores and lead to blemish and yucky skin!!
The theme for this week's Wine + Mask Wednesday is "bubbly"! Bubbly wines and masks are both so fun!
Here is my Wine of the Week:
The Little King 2010- Methode Champenoise Sparkling Wine ~ $21.99. Soft and delicate notes of raspberry tickle the nose, crisp green apple flavors massage the palate. Love ... translated as wine. Delicous with seafood: prawns, lobster, oysters and sushi but perfect with anything or one that you love - anytime. The Little King was created in memory of Miranda + Del's infant son Rex Halladay, who died as a result of an unsafe sleeping situation in hospital. All proceeds from the sale of The Little King are donated to the 'Pediatric Nursing Education Fund'. Sales of the wine have raised over $70,000 in support of on-going nursing education designed to prevent accidents like those that claimed Rex's life.
I didn't get in to k-beauty until last year when I started getting Memeboxes and know I really love k-beauty goodies! I have been more interested in the Korean Skincare products and have only tried a few makeup products! I was really intrigued when I saw the latest k-beauty makeup trend: cushions! It took me a little while to get on the bandwagon, but I finally bought myself one!! (If you saw a recent post, I bought this in a mini Innisfree haul)
Ampoule Intense Cushion SPF34/PA++ 15G in "Natural Beige" ~ $31.67 CAN. Long-lasting moisture winter-cushion that keeps your skin hydrated for a long period by restoring moisture to your skin 1. Ampoule Intense Complex™ protects the skin barrier, leaving your skin moist for 24 hours. 2. High refraction of the blooming oil evenly distributes light, giving your skin a gorgeous natural glow 3. The excellent formula of the cushion absorbs quickly to the skin, allowing a buildable layer.
So, while I did my nails last night it got late - I had to decide between blog post and bed (clearly bed won) and that make's me a day late posting my nails!! This month I took it is easy with my Monthly Pedicure and went with holographic nail polish! Here is a look at the products I used:
OPI Top Coat
Glisten and Glow "First in Line" - this was a limited edition holo from a Black Friday collection in 2014
Time for another Monthly Empties!! (I loved watching empties videos & reading blog posts - so I am jumping on the empties bandwagon - this is my 3rd month!) (Also, just as a note I will only be showing empties of make-up, skincare, body and hair products - the rest you don't need to see! I won't be showing any sheet masks here either because I review my whole Month in Masks in a separate post, but I will include masks in packages that I have finished!) Let's get right in:
NEOGEN Gold Cacao ~ $28.03. An intensively moisturizing and nourishing facial butter cream specifically formulated to target those with super dry, sensitive skin, and rough, cracking skin. It's key ingredients - gold, cacao seed butter, mango seed butter, shea butter, and olive oil - are naturally derived.
My Skincare Routine is very important to me - you can view my Daily and Nightly routines here if you are familiar with the Korean 10 Step skincare routine! Most of you know by now that masks are a huge part of this routine and since I have come to love this routine, I have incorporated so many new masks in to my routine! I love trying different brands and different types of masks! I started this post a few months back as a way to review more masks on my blog! Hope you enjoy reading about all the masks I have tried! I consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post!
BeauNa Whitening Sheet Mask Apple~ $1.14. Apple extract contains extracts and vitamin C, effectively brighten the complexion, improve dull tired skin condition. Extracted from the hot springs mineral ingredients can reach the underlying skin lasting moisture. Here is how Scratch describes the Monthly Mani Kit: "For only $10 a month, each kit includes one set of wraps (already a $12 value), and extras like polish, charms and nail art tools (a total value of over $20). Signing up is a no brainer when you're saving this much." Of the 3 monthly nail wraps featured in the Box, you pick which style you would like for your Kit!
