2015 Color of the Year: Marsala Eyes Makeup Look

I think it's really neat, that every year there is a designated "Color of the Year"! I have decided that I will do a monthly post with the color of the year - make-up, nails, etc! You can view my past Color of the Year post's here.

2015's Color of the Year is Marsala - and is described as a wine red with brown roots!

This is not a normal color I wear, so it has been a bit of an adjustment for me to find ways to wear it! It has been fun going out of my comfor

First, I feel like I need to defend that you do not need to buy the Sephora+Pantone makeup to incorporate the color in to your routine! It is okay to use other similar colors as a means to inexpensively incorporate the Color of the Year in to your routine!

Today, I am going to show you a Marsala eyeshadow "day look" using the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette:

This palette is beautiful, and Coastal Scent's shadows are very pigmented! At $40 (on sale for $19.95 and that is much I bought it for!), it is a great palette.

This is a very simple day look, and is a great starter for using Marsala as an every day color (I love this look for work).

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Eye primer

2. Use color #2 as full shadow base:

3. Use color #1 as a highlighter under brows and in the corner of eyes

4. Use color #3 over outside portion of lower eyelid

5. Use color #4 in the eye crease

And, Here is your Marsala eye:

Now, complete your day look with an eyeliner and a few coats of mascara! Here is your final look:

This has been my favorite way so far of using the Color of the Year (I am still trying to get used to darker lips!). Next month, I will do another eye tutorial, but darker and a bold "night" Marsala look!

Have you been trying to use the Color of the Year in your makeup routines? And, how?
