Manicure Monday (double stripe french manicure) + Mask Monday (Masker Aide Sheet Mask Review) - all on a Wednesday - yikes!!

First off, I have to apologize for my week long absence - I swear I am alive over here!! I have just been very busy, and should be all normal again by later this week! I am usually very good at time management but I have just felt like this last week, there has not been enough hours in the day to get everything done!!

Alas, my Monday posts are not being done until Wednesday!! Yikes! But let's get to it!

This week for my Manicure Monday, I wanted to do a little twist on a french manicure - double striped tips!

Here are the products I used:

  • Ciate #58 Cookies and Cream (nude polish)
  • Nicole by OPI "profoundly purple" (plum color)
  • OPI Top Coat
  • Formula X nail cleanser and base coat
  • Straight nail stickers (mine are by Nail Vinyls)

Here are the steps I followed:
1. Nail cleanser and base coat
2. 1 or 2 coats of nude polish (sometimes a thinner base is easier to work with for stickers as it dried quicker - the polish i used was very covering with only 1 coat!)

3. Let polish dry very well!!
4. Use stickers to create a french tip, leave a small space and use a second sticker to create a second "stripe" (make sure when using stickers you tuck them well in to the edge of your nails so no polish bleeds outside of where you want it!):

5. Use the darker polish and paint quickly over the stickers - make sure it is nice and covered and the remove the stickers immediately. (Do not let the polish dry or it will peel the polish and lift it off!) - sorry for this blurry picture!

6. Repeat on all nails and let dry!
7. Topcoat!

Here are my final results:

I really like the look of the two stripes, buuuut this color did not turn out to be my favorite!  I thought purple would look awesome over a nude, but it turned out to look slightly brown! Next time I think I will try something brighter like a turquoise or a hot pink!

Now time for my Mask Monday:

Back to my sheet mask obsession, I was very excited to receive a sheet mask in my Topbox this month, so that is what I will try this week!

The mask is: Masker Aide Beauty Restore Sheet Mask - this retails for $5.99 per mask. (I personally think that's a little too much for a one-time use mask myself!).

I like MaskerAide's brand - they created a line of eco-friendly sheet masks. All masks are free of parabens, dyes, mineral oils, artificial fragrances, benzophenone, and glycerins. The are also vegan and non-toxic! (I love that!).

To use:
1. Wash face and tone (use a nice moisturizing toner, not a harsh one!).
2. Take mask out of package, unfold and apply to face:

(my first not about this mask is that it fits big! I know I have kind of a small face but this was too big, it was actually awkward to wear!).

3. Leave on for 10-20 minutes and remove by gently peeling off.
4. Pat in the extra moisture left behind or rinse (I like to pat in the extra essence left behind, but this was weird and it did not absorb in to my skin at all! - I had to wait probably an extra 10 minutes before I could finish my skin care routine).
5. Complete your skin care routine

Overall thoughts - for $5.99, I would not repurchase this! I love the idea behind the brand of being non-toxic and eco-friendly; however, for $6 per use - this product should be a miracle worker! I thought it was hard to wear and in the end the product left behind was hard to absorb.

Thanks for checking back - again sorry for my week break! I would love to hear about your main/mask monday!
